Reflections on ‘Feeling Out of Balance’
I find myself thinking about how I help myself and others when I or they are feeling off, or out of balance.
In the world of energy and the physical, we need to be balanced in the good and bad, happy and sad, light and dark, etc…….
Isn’t that what we are all looking for… balance?
Balance requires an honest look at yourself so you can find where and when you pull yourself (or let yourself be pulled) off your center. One of the ways I often see someone get pulled off their center is when that person denies an aspect, either good or bad, of one of their traits.
One of my traits is that I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. The good side of this trait is that it expresses my kindness and makes others feel not judged.
Wait….is there a down side to this trait? Of course! I am an easy mark for someone who wants to spin me a story. I believe them. I have worked to bring the good and ‘bad’ aspects of this trait into balance by developing my discernment. By that I mean looking at the truth. Not what I want to be true or what someone else says is true.
In my practice, I may see that a client is flying around going from this to that. Maybe that person likes being out of balance. The truth may be that the person has never had balance, so does not have awareness that they are off. They think this is normal. They think that everyone is doing it this way.
How do I help someone who does not know they are off develop awareness?
I help them discover the truth of what is not working in their world by asking a few questions. It is amazing how simple the questions are and how powerful the answers are in revealing where their imbalance is. The most important part is that they have the discovery, not me.
So be truthful with yourself… ask what is working and not working. Notice how this helps you develop your own discernment.
I dare you!!!
