Reflections on Energy

By |2018-08-20T01:57:21-04:00August 20th, 2018|Blog|

Reflections Most of my clients are familiar with bodywork. Along these lines I offer in-person treatment sessions. I usually offer a modality that involves touching the physical body to facilitate balance. My clients are comfortable with these modalities. Less familiar to many is the energy work I do for both humans and animals. The most common question I hear is......" How does that work?" You likely have had the experience of entering a crowded room and getting a intuitive feel for the group. Your response may have been one of the following: You want to get out of there before you go any further, or you feel you are going to really like this group. They feel like your [...]

Reflections on Zero Balancing Touch Therapy

Reflections on Zero Balancing The Case for Touch By Amanda King My sense, as a bodyworker, that healing possibilities through touch are infinite. Professional touch, while geared to provide a consistency of experience to the client, also allows for that person’s individual response to a multitude of factors, including pain sensitivity, pressure, etc. In approaching a new client, for example, I ask her if she is used to touch, therapeutic or otherwise. If not, I approach such a client with greater awareness so as to provide an experience of the potentials of touch. In massage, for example, my goal is to recede and to allow the client to feel himself on a multitude of physical levels – skin, muscle, [...]

Consciousness, Balance, and Being Real

Consciousness, Balance, and Being Real By Carolyn L. Kusinski, PHD We are the only ones who can balance ourselves. Family, friends, colleagues, mentors, and leading lights can set frameworks, give feedback, share insights, and do some good old holding up the mirror for us—but at the end of the day, it’s on us. It can feel vulnerable to be out of balance. When we're off, we feel it viscerally--like walking on a log across a mountain stream or holding a lot of packages on an escalator.  And we see the imbalance play out in our world.  As we become alert to the risk of being off in this way, we pay attention with renewed interest. Why? Because the many ways we experience being [...]

Meet Guest Speaker Carolyn L. Krusinski, PHD

Guest Speaker Meet Carolyn L. Kusinski, PHD As a young girl I asked —“What is reality and how will I know when I've met it?”  This inquiry is at the heart of why I continually study, teach, and apply ways to dynamically and consciously balance all that I do and then offer that to others. My career as a business owner, senior corporate executive, and research scientist; my joy as a wife and mother; and my love of nature and of living with the mystery of creative expression fuels the larger inquiry of my life. For 35 years I have studied with renowned teachers in the Shambhala Buddhist, Taoist, and Native American traditions and taught Mindfulness Meditation.  Synthesizing and [...]

My introduction to the Taoist teachings by Cindy Mattingly Healing Way Center has this exceptional event coming up May 5 and 6th of 2018 Living a Balanced Life: Ancient Taoist Wisdom for Modern Lifestyles with Dr. Eva Wong and Dr. Carolyn Krusinski My introduction to the Taoist teachings started with a workshop called Tao of Living a Balanced Life presented Dr Wong and Dr Krusinski in April 2016.  It was a one day workshop at the Boston Shambhala Center. It really spoke to me to hear that Taoist tradition offers guidance and that I am expected to do my part by making the effort through body and mind practices.  Having good physical health and an open mind helps a [...]

by Carolyn Krusinski, Phd We are in a dynamic conversation with the phenomenal world about how the interconnectedness of our lives is continually enriching and challenging us. There is always a bit of magic in the air when the world shows up to help us along our life’s journey. That’s been my lifelong experience. And yet, it surprises me again and again. And we can’t always plan, control, negotiate, or cajole experience on our own terms. These experiences arise continuously like interconnected circles that form and dissolve throughout our lives. This is something to recognize and celebrate. This is something to master. This is the interplay of Balance.  The topic of Balance is timely. The world is in flux [...]

Reflections from Costa Rica back in the USA

By |2018-01-08T23:56:39-05:00November 25th, 2017|Articles|

by Cynthia Mattingly Back from Costa Rica at the office:  It was a strange feeling to come into the office when I got caught up at home so much later than my normal time.  Something has shifted from the work with the horses……it is not conscious. Many of the conversations in Costa Rica were about being on horse time.  There is an allowing for things to happen as they need to.  This embraces the concept of divine timing and giving nature the space to form the energy pattern that is best suited for the situation. I know that I do this in many areas of my life but not all aspects.  I have this when I do sessions and [...]

Reflections from Costa Rica

By |2018-01-09T01:46:49-05:00November 2nd, 2017|Blog|

Reflections by Cynthia Mattingly I just spent 10- days with my dear friend, Danielle. I attended her workshop Horse and Soul Retreat at Leaves and Lizards in Costa Rica.  The journey to Costa Rica is a tough one…….18 hours from home to the retreat center.  Stepping into this beautiful countryside made the recovery from the travel much much easier. I have done a ton of emotional and body process work and really felt I was working on my stuff in a very conscious way.  I always have wanted the best clarity for myself, my personal relationships and to hold the precious space for the sacred expression of Healing Way Center and the work that I do.  Well, I got [...]

Animal Energy Work: The Joy of Teaching and Facilitating

Animal Energy Work: The Joy of Teaching and Facilitating  by Jen O’Leary-Chen If you had asked me 3 years ago if I would ever consider teaching Reiki, I would have said no.  I thought my path was to only treat and practice Reiki. My thinking changed when I took Holy Fire Karuna Reiki training with William Lee Rand.  In that class, he said that Holy Fire Reiki often guides people to teach.  I was skeptical but kept an open mind.  Shortly thereafter, the universe and a good friend connected me to someone interested in learning R eiki.  I almost said no, but feeling the pull to go in that direction, I put my nerves aside and my faith in [...]

Modality Feature: Magnified Healing®

By |2017-05-05T13:44:29-04:00April 3rd, 2017|Blog, Modality Feature|

Magnified Healing® By Lynn Elzweig, HF RM, HF KRM, MH Magnified Healing® was given to Reiki Masters, Gisele King and Kathryn Anderson in 1983 by Kwan Yin. In 1992 after much meditation and receiving more information, the two women became the primary teachers of Magnified Healing® and subsequently taught classes all over the world. The energy of Magnified Healing®  includes love, healing karma, and ascension. In giving Magnified Healing®  1st Phase session, a trained practitioner guides the client through motion, breath, and speech.  It is very powerful and grounding, involving a link to God or a Higher Power. Please note, however, that the training is not religious. I found that after I took the two-day 1st Phase Workshop and practiced [...]

Modality Feature: Cupping

By |2017-10-28T20:16:04-04:00March 18th, 2017|Blog, Modality Feature|

Cupping Cupping By Dianne Wall Cupping therapy is an ancient traditional technique that uses negative pressure (suction) to assist the body’s own healing process by improving blood and lymph circulation and pulling toxins from the tissues. It was once commonplace around the world, most notably in China where its documented use dates back over 2,000 years. With the rise of ‘modern’ medicine and pharmaceuticals cupping fell out of favor at the end of the 19th century, though it remained a home remedy in many cultures. Thanks to celebrities like actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps who avail themselves of its benefits, cupping is gaining popularity again. Cupping can be used to facilitate muscle and fascia tension [...]

Divine Feminine

By |2017-03-10T23:18:51-05:00March 10th, 2017|Blog|

Divine Feminine By Cindy Mattingly This sounds corny to some part of me…..Divine Feminine.  This is neither something I was raised with nor a concept I learned about in my training as an Occupational Therapist. It is not something my religious education taught or ANYONE ever shared. Strange that it is so important now. It is something that has happened organically.  It has come from deep process work with women whom I describe as my soul sisters.  They hold the most sensitive part of me with great respect and are protective of me when parts of me are not kind to me.  Sounds like crazy talk but anyone who has done this journey understands these words.  It is scary and [...]

Reiki to reduce symptoms of depression & stress

By |2017-03-26T21:50:15-04:00February 26th, 2017|Articles, Blog, Reiki|

by Keri Stella Journal Review by Keri Stella REIKI SHOWN TO REDUCE SYMPTOMS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL DEPRESSION AND STRESS UP TO ONE YEAR AFTER TREATMENTS Today, patients are seeking out treatment by alternative healers in increasing numbers, partly due to the dissatisfaction of the Western Medicine model of not treating the “whole” person.  Energetic healing has recently gained popularity with doctors, nurses and other health care professionals as a way to complement traditional medicine. With up to 25% of women and 12% of men having experienced depression, standard treatments are considered less than optimal, as depression has been associated with chronic medical conditions, decreased social functioning, and increased pain and physical illness. Research has shown effectiveness of energetic healing [...]

Helping George the Cat

Helping George Helping George the Cat By Keri Stella For those of you have seen my personal blogs, I’ve talked about my friend, George, before.  He’s a gorgeous, sweet, lovable cat, who also happens to be deaf and blind.  I’ve worked with him a few times over the last year, giving him reiki either where he lives or at my house, and communicating with him from a distance – among my first experiences with animal communication!  I met George, through his person, Mary Beth, who is a friend of mine at another company we both work for. So, here’s the latest story of George.  About a couple of weeks ago, Mary Beth and I sat down over coffee, [...]
