Book Review: Tales of the Taoist Immortals by Eva Wong

By |2018-01-15T21:39:19-05:00January 15th, 2018|Blog, Story of the Month|

Tales of the Taoist Immortals by Eva Wong: book review by Cindy Mattingly Awesome book! Each “chapter” is short so easy to fit into a busy schedule. This is a collection of Chinese storytelling that Eva heard growing up in Hong Kong. It begins with The Eight Immortals, the most famous of the Taoist Immortals, and they are in their own section. They represent the many aspects of the Taoist spirituality. The other immortals are listed in the category for which they are best known for…….sages, magicians, diviners and alchemists. In the Taoist tradition the stories of the immortals are meant to teach as well as entertain. Would you like to meet Eva Wong? Healing Way Center [...]

6 Things Horses Can Teach Us

6 Things Horses Can Teach Us By Keri Stella, Animal Reiki Practitioner and Intuitive What can us humans learn from horses?  That was a question I asked myself when I attended an "Awakening with Horses" event this past weekend in Andover, MA at Ironstone Farm, led by Cowboy and Seth Monk.  Initially, I attended the event to just gain more experience with horses and learn more about them.  I am an animal reiki practitioner and intuitive, so I was thinking maybe I would focus on that aspect with the horses.  I was completely wrong!  Throw that out the window - I needed to just focus on just being present with the horses - no other agenda.  Going into an arena [...]

Featured Modality: Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release By Peter J. van Twuyver, DPT, MPT, OCS Myofascial Release (MFR) is an osteopathic term which refers to the use of the hands for the stretching and mobilization of muscle and fascia.  The intention of MFR is to remove or “release” adhesions or restrictions in soft tissue to restore mobility and function.  Adhesions in soft tissue can occur from inactivity, trauma, and poor posture.   As it turns out, Myofascial Release has been around since 400 BC, during the time of Hippocrates.  Physicians in Greece would frequently use their own brand of myofascial techniques on wrestlers who frequently got hurt from the nature of their sport. I studied Myofascial Release as part of my Doctoral Studies at the [...]

Practitioner Feature: Keri Stella

Keri Stella Practitioner Feature: Keri Stella My story as a pet Reiki practitioner and intuitive started when I was in the midst of my Reiki training.  I was level 2 certified - not yet a Reiki Master or practitioner - searching for interesting books at the library (as I often did) about different modalities of healing, astrology, and crystals, for example.  I probably borrowed around 10 books every time I went to the library and ferociously read as much information as I could before it was time to return them.  One day I happened upon a book about animal communication, which I was very curious about.  Little did I know that book at the library would forever change [...]

Modality of the Month: Distant Healing

By |2017-09-22T14:12:50-04:00November 12th, 2015|Modality Feature|

At Healing Way Center we offer our clients the option to have energy work done in person or at a distance. This is because when working with a client's energy it is not necessary for them to be physically present. Studies have shown that distant healing is just as effective as having the work done in person. We know that this is not an easy topic for people to wrap their heads around so we wanted to help make it more clear. Bernadette Doran BS, RMT does a very nice job of explaining this concept in her article "The Science Behind Distant Healing". Story of the Month: Grace

By |2017-10-28T20:16:04-04:00October 13th, 2015|Story of the Month|

By: Caitlin Marino This past May our beloved family dog, a 15 year old Yorkshire Terrier named Grace, encountered a poisonous Bufo frog while in Florida with my parents. My father rushed her to the animal hospital but her outlook was poor. The vet had informed him that 90% of all dogs who encounter these frogs are dead upon arrival and those that survive are typically larger dogs. I immediately contacted Healing Way Center with the hope that the Pet Reiki practitioners could help little Gracie survive. By 2pm Grace was up and eating and she was released the next day without complication. The vet was shocked by what a swift and complete recovery Grace made. Grace bounced back from this experience and spent the next 5 months seeming happier and younger than she had been previously. I am certain that this story would have ended differently without [...]

Magnesium Benefits

Magnesium Balances Calcium and Rescues the Heart By Scott Miners, editor, Well Being Journal, Vol. 23, No. 4. Carolyn Dean, M.D., author of The Magnesium Miracle, states that up to 80 percent of the population in the U.S. is deficient in magnesium. Magnesium is the mineral that activates nerves and muscles, including the muscle cells in the heart. It attaches to adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy molecule of the body, to catalyze stored energy. ATP, she writes, “created in mitochondria, is the main source of energy in our cells, and it must be bound to a magnesium ion (MgATP) in order to be biologically active. This is likely the most important function of magnesium, because ATP is made in each of the 100 trillion [...]

Story of the Month: Kristen Guthrie

By |2017-10-28T20:16:04-04:00June 1st, 2015|Story of the Month|

Story of the Month: Kristen Guthrie  My name is Kristen and I am the mother of two beautiful children, ages 8 and 10.   Along with my husband, we have always been an active family.  I especially love to watch my kids participate in sports such as hockey, soccer and gymnastics.  Our home is always open to friends and there is rarely a day that there aren’t at least 4 or more kids hanging out with us or getting ready to carpool to a practice or game. About a year ago I noticed that I just wasn’t feeling “right”.  I had pressure in my head and sinuses.  I often felt popping noises in my ears, along with ringing and pressure.  I [...]

Helping George

Helping George By Keri Stella, January 16, 2017 For those of you have seen my personal blogs, I’ve talked about my friend, George, before.  He’s a gorgeous, sweet, lovable cat, who also happens to be deaf and blind.  I’ve worked with him a few times over the last year, giving him reiki either where he lives or at my house, and communicating with him from a distance – among my first experiences with animal communication!  I met George, through his person, Mary Beth, who is a friend of mine at another company we both work for. So, here’s the latest story of George.  About a couple of weeks ago, Mary Beth and I sat down over coffee, and she told [...]
