Story of the Month: Kristen Guthrie

My name is Kristen and I am the mother of two beautiful children, ages 8 and 10.   Along with my husband, we have always been an active family.  I especially love to watch my kids participate in sports such as hockey, soccer and gymnastics.  Our home is always open to friends and there is rarely a day that there aren’t at least 4 or more kids hanging out with us or getting ready to carpool to a practice or game.

About a year ago I noticed that I just wasn’t feeling “right”.  I had pressure in my head and sinuses.  I often felt popping noises in my ears, along with ringing and pressure.  I wouldn’t say I was dizzy from these symptoms, just more disoriented at times and shaky. I felt like I was doing everything I could to get through the day.

I visited my general practitioner as well as an ENT specialist and they couldn’t find anything wrong.  This led to more frustration and anxiety on my part.  I have always been healthy and active and all of a sudden, I couldn’t explain why I felt the way I did.  One afternoon I was talking to a dear friend of mine about how I felt.  She immediately called her sister who was an ER nurse at a well know hospital.  Her sister gave me many suggestions about what could be wrong and what I could do.  I went back to my doctor and we tried a few things to no avail.  That same day, my friend also suggested that I call Cindy.  She had been a client of hers for a few years and told me how wonderful she was.  I immediately called her and took her first available appointment.  This was in March of 2014.

I had no idea what to expect at my first visit.  Cindy immediately put me at ease and I was comfortable opening up to her about different things in my life.  After my first few sessions, I began to feel less anxiety and more relaxed.  At each session, she would listen to how my days had been going and she would alter her approach each time based on what I told her.  Slowly I could feel myself healing.  I have always been the type of person who holds in tension and stress and with Cindy’s help and gentle touch, I have begun to feel much better.  I am back to being active and participating in the sports that I enjoy, especially tennis.  I am finally able to sit at my children’s games and completely focus on them, rather than how I am feeling.

I can’t thank Cindy enough for her help and guidance during this time in my life.  She truly has a gift and we are all fortunate that she chooses to share it with us.
